Content is King

You may have heard the news already - Content is King!

It's accepted by bloggers all over the world that what makes a successful blog (or website) is good quality content. Yes, at a fundamental level, it really is as simple as that.

So what is Good Content?

Defining 'good content' is rather tricky as it's a very subjective measure. There are no set rules and everyone will have their own take on what good content is. Here are a few pointers to help you out.

• Think of the reader - how will your blog seem from a reader's perspective?
• Original - it should be you own work, don't be tempted to copy the work of others !
• Interesting - will readers find your blog interesting?
• Useful - Is your content of use to readers?

Now I know what good content is, how do I write it?

The first step is to choose your topic. Are you going to blog about your life or maybe your fravorite football team?

Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

• Personal Interests - this could be your hobbies, or your rants and raves!
• Educational - if you are very knowledgable in a particular subject then you could share that knowledge in your blog
• Entertainment - gossip, jokes, funny video clips
• Politics - everyone has their own view on politics, the debates can get heated!
• Local issues - what's happening in your area, talk about good places to eat or report on local events

It doesn't matter what your subject is just so long as you are passionate about it. By choosing a subject you are passionate about your writing will naturally pick up on your personal enthusiasum and make for a better reading experience.
